Garden & Home

A Cup of Tea would be Nice” and “Rainy Day Umbrellas” (exclusive to Design Kist) were both featured in an article on online shopping in the June issue of Garden & Home. A wintry selection to suit the weather.

Mad for patterns

I’m on a roll. Some of my latest designs for fabric, wallpaper, upholstery… any surface.
Some of them can be purchased exclusively from Design Kist.

I love to take pictures

so I recently bought a Canon Powershot G12. Here are some of my photographs on Flickr.
This is one of my favourites…

It was taken early last Sunday morning in Bo-Kaap. We were feeding the pigeons to attract them for our shots of this lovely old building, when this street cleaner came along and offered to help us dramatize the scene by ‘shooing’ the birds so they would would fly about.

A fine Christmas market… follow up

The evening was warm and balmy, the venue impeccable. An estimated 1200-1600 visitors attended, ensuring the courtyard was packed full of the holiday spirit. Pictures courtesy of Lorenzo Nassimbeni

LIM
Founded in 1997, the same year I moved to Cape Town to study graphic design, this Kloof Street store has since been to me a true icon of decor style. Always up-to-date with trends yet maintaining a strong identity of its own.
So you can imagine how thrilled I am not only to be stocking them with napkins, but to see said napkins displayed
in a stunning table setting as you enter the store!

Mighty has come to town

This certainly is a mighty range of handbags by designer Casey van Embden. Think big bags, small bags, functional bags, decorative bags, classic bags, avant-garde bags, bags with interchangeable accessories and bags which can multi-task. What they all have in common is beautiful materials, considered design and detailed styling.
Available to have and to hold for the first time at the Mighty Pop-Up store.
Other fabulous products on offer include vintage never-been-worn sunglasses, lots of beautifully unique clothing items, jewelry and scarves. Oh, and some pretty napery from me.
See you there!

Lookie here…

More World Cup!

While football teams from all over the world have been thrashing it out on South African soil, The Rikrak Studio has been running another international tournament. This one featuring crafters from all over the world representing their countries in the Handmade World Cup. Check it out here to see who won!

Spill. A food & drink blog.

I met the fabulous Clare Mack of foodie blog Spill at Kim Gray’s shopping day. She’s a character for sure! Here I am showing off the new Soccer Sister shoulder bags I made in time for the World Cup fever about to hit our shores.

And she followed up with this outrageously complimentary feature on her blog a few days later.

Thank you Clare!

Now this a blog seriously worth following if you live in and around Cape Town. Clare reviews everything from the noted Jardine Restaurant to Pollsmoor Prison, not to mention the finest wines and Kalahari truffles!

She also wrote this great guide for soccer fans in Cape Town entitled Great nosh for little dosh. Love it!
